Story of Appreciation!

One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview; the director did the last interview, who took the final decision. He discovered from the CV that the youth's academic result was excellent all the way, from secondary school until the postgraduate research, not a year did he not score.

The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarship in school?" and the youth answered, "None." The director asked, "Was it your father who paid your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it is my mother who paid my school fees. " The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as a clothes washer."

The director requested the youth to show his hands, and the youth showed the director his hands. The director asked, “Did you ever help your mother wash clothes?"
The youth answered, "Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books and that’s why my hands are smooth and perfect. Furthermore, my mother can wash clothes faster than I can.”

The director said, "I have a request; when you go back today, go and help clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning."

The youth felt that as the chances of landing the job were high, when he went home, he happily wanted to clean his mother's hands. His mother felt strange, happy but mixed with fear, she showed her hands to the youth.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly, his tears dropped down as he did that. It was the first time he found his mother's hands so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises on her hands. Some bruises incited pains so strong that made his mother's body shiver when cleaned with water. This was the first time the youth realized and experienced that it was this pair of hands that washed clothes every day to earn him the school fees. The bruises on the mother's hands was the price that the mother paid for his graduation and academic excellence and probably his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother's hands, the youth quietly cleaned all the remaining clothes for his mother. That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.
Next morning, the youth went to the director's office. The director noticed the tear in the youth's eye, and asked: "Can you tell me what you have done and learned yesterday in your house?"
The youth answered, "I cleaned my mother's hands, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes." The director asked, "Please tell me your feelings."

The youth said :
Number 1, I knew what was appreciation; without my mother, there would not a successful me today.
Number 2, I knew how to work together with my mother, then only I could realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done.
Number 3, I knew the importance and value of family relationships.

The director said, "This is what I am asking; I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the suffering of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life to be my manager. You are hired."
Later on, this young person worked very hard and received the respect of his subordinates; every employee worked diligently and in a team, so that the company's results improved tremendously.

Interpretation

A child who has been protected and habitually given whatever he/she wanted develops "entitlement mentality" and always “put himself/herself first”. He/She is ignorant of his/her parents'-n-other’s efforts. When he/she starts work, he/she assumes every one must listen to him/her, and when he/she becomes a manager, he/she can never know the sufferings of his/her employees and always blame others. This kind of person can have good results, may be successful for a while, but eventually would not feel a sense of achievement, he/she will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we follow this kind of protective parenting, are we loving our kids or ‘ignorantly but systematically destroying their ethics, morality and respect for relationships’?

You can let your kid live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch a big screen TV but when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plate and bowl together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you “need to love them in a right way”. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow grey, same as the mother of that young person.

The most important thing is that your kid(s) must learn how to appreciate the efforts and experience the difficulties and learn the ability to work with others to get things done.

Coca-Cola WM Song - K´naan - Wavin' Flag - Musikvideo

FIFA World Cup 2010 theme song lyrics

Ooooooh Wooooooh

Give me freedom, give me fire, give me reason, take me higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets are, heads are liftin , as we lose our inhabition,
Celebration its around us, every nation, all around us

Singin forever young, singin songs underneath that sun
Lets rejoice in the beautiful game.
And together at the end of the day.

WE ALL SAY

When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back
And then it goes back
And then it goes back

When I get older I will be stronger
They'll call me freedom
Just like a wavin' flag
And then it goes back
And then it goes back
And then it goes

Oooooooooooooh woooooooooohh hohoho

Give you freedom, give you fire, give you reason, take you higher
See the champions, take the field now, you define us, make us feel proud
In the streets are, heads are liftin, every loser in ambition,

Singin forever young, singin songs underneath that sun
Lets rejoice in the beautiful game.
And together at the end of the day.

Good Friday!

In German, Good Friday is called Karfreitag, Frietag denotes Friday, while Kar, a word no longer in use today, denotes mourning. Norwegians call it 'Long Friday', people from Latin countries call it 'Holy Friday' while Hungarians call it 'Great Friday'.

So why do English speaking nations call this day, which is quintessentially a day of mourning, Good Friday?

It is believed that the term 'Good Friday' was actually derived from the term 'God's Friday' just as 'Good' in the term 'goodbye' is derived from 'God be with ye'.

Another school of thought believes that when Jesus was crucified, he took upon himself the sufferings of all humanity. He thus 'blessed' us on this day, by sparing us from suffering, and hence the term 'Good Friday'.

Jesus was resurrected the following Sunday: Easter Sunday. This day is marked with celebration and festivity. The act of crucifixion paved the way for his resurrection and humanity's belief in love, God and providence was restored. In this manner, Good Friday celebrates the spirit of triumph over any tragedy, even death.

The day of Good Friday is observed as a day of fasting and penance in the memory of crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This day symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Read on to know more about this day.

A day of mourning

Every year phone calls from people wish each other on Good Friday. They are not to be blamed, for the name is misleading. They assume that if it is 'Good' Friday, something good must have happened on this day. They are quite astonished when they know that this is a day of mourning for the Christians as Christ was crucified on this day.

"Then what's good about it?" The death of Christ symbolizes the victory of good over evil, but that explanation somehow leaves them more puzzled than before.

Good Friday usually means dragging oneself out of bed on a school holiday to attend a three hour church service at the end of which one would get hot cross buns and 'kanji' or rice water.

The Friday before Easter, known as Good Friday, is observed as a day of fasting and penance every year in memory of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This custom goes back as early as the 2nd century.

Reliving the pain

On this day, the church commemorates Jesus' arrest, his trial, crucifixion and suffering, death, and burial. Since services on this day are to observe Jesus' death, and since Eucharist is a celebration, there is traditionally no Communion observed on Good Friday.

In addition, all pictures, statues, and the cross in churches are covered in mourning black. The priest and the choir wear black cassocks and the chancel and altar coverings are replaced with black. Even the altar candles are extinguished. They are left this way through Saturday, but are always replaced with more white or other festive colours on Easter Sunday.

Usually the three-hour service consists of reading passages from the Gospel about the Seven Last Words of Jesus. Each reading is followed by a message from the priest, a few minutes of silent meditation and a hymn. Good Friday services are aimed at allowing worshippers to experience some sense of the pain and humiliation that Christ experienced on this day so many centuries ago and the service ends in the journey to the cross.

While usually the service is for three hours, there are certain churches that go on for almost six hours. The traditional Catholic service for Good Friday was held in mid-afternoon to correspond to the final words of Jesus from the cross. However, modern schedules have led many churches to shift the service to a more convenient time to allow more people to participate.

The Seven Last Words of Christ

The Seven Last Words of Christ are read from the following Bible passages:

Father, forgive them . . . (Luke 3:34)
This day you will be with me in paradise (Luke 23:43)
Woman, behold your son . . .(John 19:26-27)
My God, my God . . . (Matthew 27:46, Mark 15:34)
I thirst. (John 19:28)
It is finished! (John 19:30)
Father into your hands . . . (Luke 23:46)

Some churches use the Stations of the Cross as part of the Good Friday Service. This service uses paintings or banners or even actual re-enactments to represent various scenes from Jesus' betrayal, arrest, trial, and death, and the worshippers move to the various stations to sing hymns or pray as the story is told. There is a great variety in how this service is conducted, and various traditions use different numbers of stations to tell the story.

The Service of Darkness

Another common service for Good Friday is Tenebrae (Latin for "shadows" or "darkness"), also known as the Service of Darkness or Service of Shadows. It is usually held in the evening of Good Friday. As the service progresses through the Scripture readings and meditation, the lights and/or candles are gradually extinguished to symbolize the growing darkness not only of Jesus' death but also of hopelessness in the world without God. The service ends in darkness, sometimes with a single candle, the Christ candle, being carried out of the sanctuary, to symbolize the death of Jesus.

Some churches observe communion on Good Friday. However, traditionally Eucharist is not served on Good Friday since it is a celebration of thanksgiving. Good Friday is not a day of celebration but of mourning, both for the death of Jesus and for the sins of the world that his death represents. Yet, although Friday is a solemn time, it is not without its own joy, as the somberness of Good Friday should always be seen with the hope of Easter Sunday. Probably that's what's good about Good Friday.

More on April Fool's Day!

AprilFoolsDay_010410

Why do we celebrate April Fool's Day?

Truth is we really don't know where the tradition of playing pranks on people came from. There are a few theories floating around though.

When the western world used the Julian calendar, the year began on March 25th because they celebrated the start of a new year with the start of spring. However since that fell in the Holy Week, they celebrated it on the first of April. However, when we switched to the Gregorian calendar in the 1500s, we moved the New Year to the first of January. According to the most widely told story, those who still celebrated the New Year on April 1st were called April fools.

The Encyclopedia of Religion and the Encyclopedia Britannica thinks that the timing of April Fool's Day is directly related to the arrival of Spring, when nature 'fools' humans with erratic weather.

The Country Diary of Garden Lore has a theory that April Fools Day commemorates "the fruitless mission of the rook (the European crow) who was sent out in search of land from Noah's flood-surrounded ark."

In France, April Fools day is called "Poisson d'Avril" meaning April Fish. The tradition is that French children will tape paper fish to the backs of their friends. When they would discover the fish on their back, the prankster would yell "Poisson d'Avril!" The origin of this is unknown.

In Scotland, the April fool is called April "gowk" which is Scottish for cuckoo. The Cuckoo is an emblem of simpletons.

In Canada, Chez FM fooled the listeners one April Fools Day making listeners believe that it was the last day that the treasury would honor all the two-dollar bills still in circulation. The same year they had people going through their change looking for the mysterious two-dollar coins that had mistakenly been minted from real gold.

One newscaster on the news show CBO Morning announced that the clock in Ottawa's Peace Tower was being switched to digital.

On 1 April 1957 on BBC's show Panorama opened with a line about Spring coming early this year, prompting the spaghetti harvest in Switzerland to be early as well. In the normal news manner, spaghetti's oddly uniform length was explained as the result of years of dedicated cultivation. The report stated that the ravenous spaghetti weevil had been conquered.

So, on April 1st are you going to be the tricked or the trickster?

Birthday Trivia!

The melody for the Happy Birthday song was first penned by two sisters, Mildred and Patty Hill.

It is thought that birthday celebrations originated in the Roman Empire. And they were largely due to the prominent religion at the time, Mithraism, which was later supplanted by Christianity.

Although you might celebrate your birthday every year, your actual birthday only occurs once every 7 years! Not counting the leap years, the date you were born on moves each year to the following day of the week. This means your annual celebration is actually for your birth date - not your birthday - and in truth your birth day i.e. the actual day you were born on occurs only every 7 years!

Children who are on the leap day of February 29th often celebrate their birthdays on March 1st.
Germans take birthdays very seriously, sometimes receiving a half-day of vacation. The most common gifts among friends include flowers and wine.

In England, when you reach 80, 90 or 100 years of age, you receive a telegram from the Queen.

In India, black and white gift wrapping is considered unlucky.

The French and Italian celebrate Name Days more so than birthdays.

In Korea, the two most important birthdays are the 100th day and the 60th year.

In the Islamic world, green is a good color to use for wrapping.

A Golden Birthday happens only once in a person's lifetime. It happens when the person's age and the date of the day they were born is the same.

More people celebrate their birthdays in August than in any other month. The two other months in which birthday rates are high are July and September.

Close to two billion Birthday Cards are sent each year in the U.S. alone, accounting for nearly 58 percent of all cards sent.

The world's largest Birthday Cake was created in 1989 it weighed 128,238 pounds, 8 oz. and used 16,209 pounds of icing.

The most common birth date is October 5 and the least common is May 22 in U.S.A.

The day of the week in which the most babies are born is Tuesday while Sunday is the lowest day.

Anne Frank's world famous diary was given to her when she was thirteen years old.

The children’s day in India is celebrated on 14th November – the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru in memory of his love for children.

The Teacher’s day in India is celebrated on 5th September – the birthday of Dr. S Radhakrishnan – former President of India and a great educationist.

The Sultan of Brunei hosted the world's most expensive Birthday Party to celebrate his 50th Birthday on 13 July, 1996. The cost was a whopping US $27.2 million. Three concerts featuring Michael Jackson costs US $16 million of the total amounts.

Paul McCartney's Birth Certificate was auctioned in March 1997, for US $84,146. It is believed to be the world's most expensive Birth Certificate.

William Shakespeare’s died on his 52nd birthday: 23 April 1616.

Disney Pixar!

Up is the 10th film from Pixar Animation Studios. The others are Toy Story; A Bug’s Life; Toy Story 2; Monsters, Inc; Finding Nemo; The Incredibles; Cars; Ratatouille and Wall E.

Paradise Falls, Carl's dream destination in Up, is based on Angel Falls in Venezuela (the tallest waterfall on Earth at 3300 feet). In the film, for artistic reasons, Paradise Falls is far taller at 9700 feet.

John Ratzenberger is the only actor to voice a role in all 10 of the Disney-Pixar films. In addition to his role as Construction Foreman Tom in Up, he provided the voice of the charming and witty Hamm the piggy bank in Toy Story (reprised in Toy Story 2 and the upcoming Toy Story 3), P.T. Flea in A Bug's Life, Yeti the snow monster in Monsters, Inc., a school of Moonfish in Finding Nemo, a philosophical character named Underminer in The Incredibles, a Mac-truck in Cars, Mustafa, the head waiter in Ratatouille, and John, a human living aboard the spaceship Axiom in Wall E.

The next full-fledged feature film, Toy Story 3, is slated for release on June 18, 2010.

The average amount of time required to render a single frame of film for Up was between five and six hours. Some complicated frames took up to 20 hours. For every second of film, 24 frames are required.

Stereoscopic Supervisor Bob Whitehill, who oversaw the 3D aspects of Up, views the film as one of the greatest 3D films of all time. Using a "depth budget," the 3D team worked to match the filmmakers' "point of interest" with the "point of convergence" to give the film another visual cue to tell the story, while adding excitement and dimension to the adventure. The film's climactic airship battle, complete with dogs in biplanes, is one of the most exciting uses of 3D.

The Pizza Planet Truck, which first made an appearance in Toy Story, has made a cameo in nearly every Pixar film. In Up, the Pizza Planet truck can be seen at the intersection when Carl's house flies over the town. It's also in the Fentons Creamery parking lot at the end of the film.

Director Pete Docter of Up named Disney storyman and writer Joe Grant in the film's dedication to the real life Carl and Ellie Fredricksens who inspired us to create our own Adventure Books." Grant was part of the 1937 team that created Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and wrote Dumbo and Fantasia. The mentor, friend and source of inspiration to Docter and countless others continued to work at the Walt Disney Animation Studios up until his death in 2005, one week shy of his 97th birthday.

Let's encourage-n-enrich!

Children represent the future, and there can be no future without a present. All our personal and social achievements would be futile if we do not know that we shall eventually be replaced by millions of new beings, by new energy and new talents that will take the best we have achieved in our days and will pass it down to their children to the new generations, to those who are destined to make life most beautiful-n-wonderful!

Our mission should be to transform the above dreams to reality through Information Technology and the World Wide Web. This blog should solely be for Kids & Young Teens (as of now) and we as adults should just give a helping hand for them to step into this TREASURE TROVE of information through direct interaction and participation.

This will enable our kids to expose and enrich their inborn talents & abilities and enhance their knowledge in the fields of education, health, food, dress, entertainment etc., and to achieve an all round personality development so as to become useful citizens of our great country.

Towards this end, it would be great to encourage our kids to contribute their writing-n-artistic-n-story writing talents thru’ this blog and, we, as parents should encourage them to participate in various events to showcase their talent and improve their self-confidence and also enable them to overcome their fear of facing the world head-on.

It should be our endeavour to handhold them thru’ this process till such time they responsibly take over the task of managing-n-maintaining this blog themselves to derive its best benefits.

The Magical Present!

There was a girl called Lilly, She lived with her grandparents. Her parents were working in the zoo - so she couldn't spend a lot of time with them. She was very kind, loving and sharing.

The next day was her birthday. She was so excited. Lilly woke up and went right into the bathroom. She freshened up herself and wore her birthday dress. She was eager to check out her gifts.

As soon as she was going to go down the stairs she saw an arrow pointing downwards. So she thought of following it. When she went down she saw yet another arrow pointing left. She went left. There she saw another, then another and yet another.

By now she was so tired. She saw one more arrow and was forced to follow it! When she reached her destination it was very dark. In a flash there was a call from her family - "SURPRISE"! Soon the lights came on. She got different presents and she was so happy because her parents were there.

After all her family members were gone, except her grandparents, she started opening her presents. She started with her Grandma's and Grandpa's gifts. It was a chocolate. Next she opened her cousin's gift and that was a teddy. Finally she opened her parents present. It was a magical pouch. It said that - "YOU CAN WISH FOR 2 WISHES".

Lilly wished that she wants a chocolate machine. It suddenly came and Lilly started to touch her food and it became chocolate. Then she wished that her parents would live with her forevera and they came in a second. She was very happy and they were living with her. And she loved her birthday.

Good Bye.

The Inimitables!

Hi there,

This is a very special moment for me...it's my 9th B'Day today (February 8th, 2010) and "The Inimitables" blog account has come into existence! Let's make this a special forum for us to interact with each other sensibly and with due respect for each others point-of-view!!

BTW, what is "The Inimitables"?

In this digital era, creating and maintaining relationships has become critical. I’m told, there were days when there used to be ‘frequent’ face2face interactions among relatives and friends. Then technologies in the form of television, computers and internet are supposed to have invaded each one of our lives.

So, the best way to keep connected, is by embracing technology and use the very same tenets of living today to empower our lives by establishing meaningful relationship-building channels. What you are seeing now is the result of my eagerness and my folks enthusiasm in nurturing our blossoming relationships beyond boundaries, in this digitally connected world.
As the benefits of building long-lasting relationships are invaluable, let’s make a digital start to a wonderful-n-great future that lay ahead of us…in ‘inimitable’ style…

And so, "The Inimitables" is positioned as a 'connecting friendz' forum to bring in long-term connectivity in this digitally connected world!

Happy blogging!
